The Village of Capitan Board of Trustees met in special session on
Thursday, May 1, 2008, at the Village Hall in Capitan, New Mexico at
4:00 PM.
Mayor Hammons asked for a moment of silence and led the assembly in the
pledge of allegiance.
Mayor Hammons called the meeting to order at 4:12 PM. He asked
Kay Strickland, Village Clerk, for a roll call of the members.
Mayor Hammons-here, Trustee Wood-here, Trustee Davis-here, Trustee
Payne-here, Trustee Riska-absent. Deputy Clerk Shirley Pavlovic,
Chief of Police Randy Spear, and Kay Strickland also attended the
meeting. A list of others in attendance is attached.
Item #1 on the Agenda: Approval of the Agenda
Trustee Payne made the motion to approve the agenda. Trustee
Davis seconded the motion, and all were in favor.
Item #2 on the Agenda: Budget Workshop
Shirley Pavlovic reviewed the proposed budgets on the following
funds: Courts, Fire Equipment, Motor Vehicle Department, Smokey
Bear Donations, Water Security, (Trustee Riska arrived at 4:20 PM)
Court Escrow, Juvenile Recreation, Infrastructure, LEPF, Fire Fund,
Environmental Gross Receipts Tax, Cemetery, Correctional Fund, Lodger’s
Tax, and CDBG. She stated the funds that need to be looked at are
General, Water, and Smokey Bear Enterprises.
A discussion was held regarding taxable vehicle usage. Also,
Shirley reviewed the “want lists” that she received from each
department.
It was decided to review the salaries at the next meeting that would be
held on Tuesday, May 6th.
Trustee Payne made the motion to adjourn at 6:05 PM. Trustee
Davis seconded the motion, and all were in favor.
