WHEREAS, the New Mexico Department of Transportation has awarded funds in the amount of $58,415.00 to the Village of Capitan for blading, shaping, drainage improvement, and miscellaneous to Mt. Terrace, Juniper Drive, and Pinon Drive; and

WHEREAS, the Village of Capitan has had two of the named roads surveyed and found several property owners are utilizing a portion of the easement making it impossible for the Village to properly complete the work and in a timely manner; and

WHEREAS, the Village of Capitan has other roads that are in need of work; and

WHEREAS, West Cedar, East Cedar, and Salado Drive can be renovated for about the same costs; the Village of Capitan is requesting to change the roads from Mt. Terrace, Juniper Drive, and Pinon Drive to West Cedar, East Cedar, and Salado Drive.  The scope of work will remain the same; and

WHEREAS, the total costs of the project is estimated to be $95,021.82; the state share is $58,415.00; and Village’s local in-kind match would be $36,606.82.

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE GOVERNING BODY that the aforementioned is hereby approved and is made a part of this resolution and that the Village certifies its commitment to undertake the improvements and complete them in a satisfactory manner.
